Holy Roman Empress, Presumptive crown princess of Hungary
She was the Milanese duke's daughter who became Holy Roman Empress — the third wife of Maximilian I, a dynastic marriage that made her Queen of Germany but left almost no record of the woman herself.
Bianca Maria Sforza was born on 5 April 1472, the eldest legitimate daughter of Duke Galeazzo Maria Sforza of Milan and his second wife, Bona of Savoy. Her father ruled one of Renaissance Italy's most powerful city-states; her mother came from one of Europe's oldest dynasties. She became the third spouse of Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor, a union that elevated her to Queen of Germany and Empress. She died on 31 December 1510, leaving behind a title but little trace of her voice or agency.
