Raised in Las Vegas, he gained recognition in the late 2010s with his contributions to Black Panther: The Album (2018) by his cousin Kendrick Lamar and The Lion King: The Gift (2019) by Beyoncé. As a lead artist, he gained initial recognition for his 2019 sleeper hit single "Orange Soda", which received quadruple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
