A Norwegian singer who started as a teenager when a classmate leaked her songs online, Aurora built a decade-long career blending electropop and folk into something called art pop - then watched "Runaway", a track from 2015, explode years later on TikTok and carry her past 10 billion streams.

About this person

Aurora Aksnes began writing songs and learning dance at six in Norway, later training on piano before adding percussion and production. Recognition came by accident in her teens when a classmate posted her music without permission. She signed with three labels in 2014 and released Running with the Wolves the next year; its lead single "Runaway" would become a viral hit much later. Her 2016 debut album All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend topped Norwegian charts and drew international attention, followed by a two-part concept spanning 2018 and 2019. The Gods We Can Touch cracked the UK top 10 in 2022, and What Happened to the Heart? charted across Europe in 2024. In 2025 she pivoted electronic, forming Tomora with Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers and releasing Come Closer the following year. She has lent music to Frozen 2, Wolfwalkers, Assassin's Creed, Genshin Impact, and a slate of other screen and game projects, toured over 50 countries, and become the most-streamed female Norwegian artist ever - earning four Spellemann Awards and a stone on the Bergen Walk of Fame at 21.
