About

Born into an aristocratic family in Brussels in 1929, Audrey Hepburn spent the war years in the occupied Netherlands studying ballet and performing to raise money for the resistance. She danced in West End chorus lines and took small film roles before Roman Holiday in 1953 made her a star overnight—the first actress to sweep the Academy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA for a single performance, the same year she won a Tony for Ondine. The run that followed—Sabrina, Funny Face, The Nun's Story, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Charade, My Fair Lady—made her both a box-office constant and a fashion axis. After W…
