About this person
Armin Jozef Jacobus Daniël van Buuren was born 25 December 1976 in the Netherlands. In 2001 he launched A State of Trance, a radio show that now runs on over 100 FM stations worldwide and, according to DJs and Festivals, cultivated interest in trance music on a scale the genre had never seen. DJ Mag ranked him number one a record five times, four of them consecutive, and he landed in the top five repeatedly through 2022. In 2014 his single "This Is What It Feels Like" featuring Trevor Guthrie earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording, making him the fourth trance artist ever shortlisted. In the United States he holds the record for most entries on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart: twenty-one.
