About this person

Kerber turned pro in 2003 and spent years in the middle tier until the 2011 US Open, where she reached the semis as world No. 92. She cracked the top 5 in 2012 but the breakthrough came in 2016: Australian Open title in January, silver at Rio in August, US Open crown in September, and the No. 1 ranking on 12 September at age 28. She added Wimbledon in 2018, her third major, and held the top spot for 34 weeks across that stretch. After taking maternity leave, she returned for one last summer and retired following the 2024 Paris Olympics, 14 titles to her name.
