Born 15 March 1993 into Bollywood lineage - father Mahesh Bhatt directed films, mother Soni Razdan acted in them - she appeared as a child in the 1999 thriller Sangharsh, then vanished until Karan Johar cast her in the teen film Student of the Year in 2012. Highway in 2014, where she played a kidnapping victim, won her the Filmfare Critics prize and marked the turn: a string of romantic leads for Johar's Dharma Productions gave way to harder territory. Udta Punjab (drug abuse), Raazi (undercover operative), Gully Boy (jealous lover), and Gangubai Kathiawadi (sex worker biopic) brought four more Filmfare statues and the National Film Award in 2022. She founded a production company, Eternal Sunshine, in 2019 and produced the black comedy Darlings in 2022 before her biggest box office arrived with Brahmāstra: Part One - Shiva that same year and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023. Jigra, the 2024 action thriller she co-produced and starred in, delivered a record sixth Filmfare Best Actress trophy. She married actor Ranbir Kapoor and they have a daughter, Raha.
