About this person
Born 20 April 1997, Zverev was a junior world No. 1 who took the 2014 Australian Open junior title, then turned pro with unusual speed - one of the youngest ATP Challenger winners at 17, upsetting Roger Federer on grass as a teenager. He cracked the top 20 younger than anyone since Novak Djokovic and stacked ATP 1000s and Finals titles through his twenties, but the majors eluded him. He lost the 2020 US Open final, won Olympic gold in Tokyo the next year, then tore an ankle at the 2022 French Open that sidelined him for months. He clawed back into the top 10 and reached four more major finals before 2026, when he finally broke through - French Open in the spring, US Open in the fall. Two slams in one year, after nearly a decade of almosts.
