Alberta Ferretti was born 2 May 1950 and began designing under her own name in 1981, founding the label that would carry it. She also launched Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, designing for that line until 2014. Her showroom sat in Milan, but she worked from Cattolica, the village near Rimini where she grew up, keeping the studio there through decades of international reach. In 2024, after more than forty years at the helm of her namesake brand, she stepped back from designing it.
