About

Ahmose I came to power in the mid-16th century BC and finished what his predecessors couldn't: the complete expulsion of the Hyksos occupiers and the restoration of native Theban rule over all Egypt. He didn't stop at the borders — he reasserted control over Nubia and Canaan, territories Egypt had lost. Then he turned inward: reorganized the state, reopened quarries and mines, revived trade routes, and launched construction projects on a scale not seen since the Middle Kingdom.
