Zeca Pagodinho is read about 126 times a day, in 38 languages.
A typical day, 30 days to 15 October 2026
The middle day of the days counted, so one week of news cannot move it. The line under it is the last 390 days, one point a day.
Something wrong?Zeca Pagodinho turned pagode - a looser, back-porch cousin of samba - into a national sound in Brazil, carrying the Rio de Janeiro backyard party into concert halls without sanding off the edges.

About this person
Born Jessé Gomes da Silva Filho on February 4, 1959, he grew up inside the samba circuit and adopted a stage name that nodded to the pagode style taking shape in the Brazilian suburbs. Where older samba was formal and orchestral, pagode leaned on hand drums and singalongs, and Zeca became its most recognized voice. His catalog spans decades of albums that kept the style alive through shifts in Brazilian pop. He built a career on songs meant for the mesa de bar - the table at the bar - and never tried to be anything else.
