A Swedish rapper who turned bedroom melancholy and pixelated nostalgia into a sound that rewired internet rap. "Ginseng Strip 2002" hit YouTube in 2013 like a transmission from a lonely arcade, and the kids who found it built a cult.

About this person

Jonatan Aron Leandoer Håstad was born 18 July 1996 and took the name Yung Lean into viral territory with "Ginseng Strip 2002" in 2013. He followed with the mixtape Unknown Death 2002 that year, then the studio album Unknown Memory in 2014. The catalogue kept building: Warlord and the Frost God mixtape in 2016, Stranger in 2017, Poison Ivy in 2018. By 2019 he'd opened a second channel as Jonatan Leandoer96, stepping sideways into indie rock and neofolk with Nectar, then Blodhundar & Lullabies in 2020. Under his main name came Starz in 2020, the Stardust mixtape in 2022, Sugar World under the 96 alias in 2023, Psykos in 2024, and the album Jonatan in 2025. Two projects, one restless kid, a decade of output that never sat still.
