Kashiwagi joined AKB48 on December 3, 2006, at fifteen, and rose through the ranks to captain Team B while simultaneously performing in the subgroup French Kiss and releasing solo singles. The annual General Elections tracked her ascent: ninth in 2009, eighth in 2010, then third in both 2011 and 2012, fourth in 2013, back to third in 2014, and second place in 2015 before finishing fifth in 2016. She later held concurrent positions in sister groups NMB48 and NGT48, stretching her presence across the AKB empire. After nearly two decades, she graduated as the longest-serving member in the franchise's history, a record that gave her the title and the exit no one else could claim.
