About this person
Yayuk Basuki was born 30 November 1970 and became Indonesia's first tennis player to crack the top twenty, hitting No. 19 in the WTA singles rankings in October 1997. She stopped playing singles in 2000 but kept competing in doubles until 2013, an unusually long tail to a career. From 2014 to 2019 she sat in the Indonesian House of Representatives. In January 2018 she won election as Chair of the Indonesian Olympian Association for a four-year term, though her bid for re-election in 2019 failed.
