Viorel Iordachescu is a Moldovan chess grandmaster. He is a member of the Olympic Team of the Republic of Moldova, FIDE senior trainer, commentator, the president of the National Chess Academy of Moldova, and politician. He was awarded the title of grandmaster by FIDE in 1999.
