About

Uwe Seeler was born on 5 November 1936 and built his reputation as a prolific scorer for Hamburger SV, never leaving the club despite offers that would have made him rich elsewhere. He earned 72 caps for West Germany, turning up in crucial tournaments and embedding himself in the national team's identity. In 2004, Pelé named him to FIFA's list of the 100 greatest living players, a nod that carried weight.
