Ummul Banīn Najmah

Najmeh Khatun was the mother of the eighth Shiite (Shia) Imam, Ali ibn Musa al-Rida, and Fatimah bint Musa, who has been given various names in hadith and historical sources. Ali ibn Musa al-Rida's mother's original name was Taktum, which was renamed Tahirah by Musa ibn Ja'far after the birth of the eighth Shiite Imam. Najma Khatun was educated and trained by Hamidah Banu before marrying Musa ibn Ja'far al-Kazim. She then married Musa ibn Ja'far.
