About this person
Tucker Carlson started writing for conservative publications in the 1990s before moving to television as a CNN commentator and Crossfire co-host from 2000 to 2005, then hosted a show on MSNBC until 2008. He joined Fox News as a political analyst in 2009 and co-founded The Daily Caller in 2010, selling his stake a decade later. Tucker Carlson Tonight launched in 2016 and became cable news's highest-rated show, a perch from which he pushed skepticism of foreign intervention (after renouncing his Iraq War support in 2004), protectionism, immigration restrictions, and theories on demographic replacement, COVID-19, and Ukrainian bioweapons that drew advertiser boycotts and landed him in the 2021 Dominion defamation lawsuit for false voting-machine claims. Fox canceled the show in April 2023. Months later he interviewed Vladimir Putin, the first Western journalist to do so since the Ukraine invasion, and now runs The Tucker Carlson Show while drifting from the Republican Party after criticizing Trump over the 2026 Iran war.
