Salvatore Paul Belleci was born October 30, 1970, and cut his teeth as a model maker at Industrial Light and Magic, where his work appeared in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones - the Federation battleships and podracers came from his hands. The trajectory bent when he joined Discovery Channel's MythBusters, where he became the guy rigging explosions and crash tests in the name of debunking folklore. The show made him a fixture in living rooms, the face of hands-on curiosity taken to its logical, often combustible extreme.
