Titus Tatius

Titus Tatius was king of the Sabines from Cures when Romulus and his men seized the Sabine women to populate early Rome. He declared war, captured the Capitoline Hill through Tarpeia's betrayal, and led his army into a battle that ended only when the abducted women stepped between the lines and demanded reconciliation. The two kingdoms merged under dual rule: still called Rome, still Romans, but the community now answered to Quirites. The Sabines folded into the existing tribes and curies.
