Þórðr Sjáreksson
Icelandic poet · Iceland · On the map · Writers
Þórðr Sjáreksson was an 11th-century Icelandic skald. He composed a drápa on Þórólfr Skólmsson, four strophes of which have been preserved in the kings' sagas. He also composed a memorial drápa on the canonised Olaf II of Norway, called Róðadrápa, one strophe of which is preserved.
Þórðr Sjáreksson is read about 2 times a day, in 7 languages.
A typical day, 30 days to 10 June 2026
The middle day of the days counted, so one week of news cannot move it. The line under it is the last 60 days, one point a day.
Something wrong?About this person
A few disjoint strophes by Þórðr on different subjects are also preserved in Skáldskaparmál. Skáldatal reckons Þórðr among the court poets of both Óláfr Haraldsson and Eiríkr Hákonarson.
