American politician (1810-1881)
Thomas Watkins Ligon, a Democrat, was the 30th governor of Maryland in the United States from 1854 to 1858. He was also a member of the United States House of Representatives, serving third congressional district from 1845 until 1849. He was the second Maryland governor born in Virginia and was a minority party governor, who faced bitter opposition from an openly hostile legislature.
