Calaway worked small Texas promotions and a forgettable WCW run before landing in the WWF in 1990, where he reinvented himself as The Undertaker - a funerary, supernatural "Deadman" that won Best Gimmick five years running. The character became WWE's longest-tenured anchor, surviving 30 years by evolving: he shifted to a biker persona called "American Badass" in 2000, then brought the Deadman back in 2004 with traces of both identities blurred together. He headlined WrestleMania five times and built The Streak - 21 consecutive wins at the event - into a storyline so sacred its end in 2014 shocked the industry. He teamed and feuded with Kane as the Brothers of Destruction for over two decades, collected seven world titles, and retired having never let the audience see the seams.
