Şule Yüksel Şenler was a Turkish writer, journalist. She devoted herself throughout her life to improving the status of conservative women in Turkish society and became a leading role model in women's participation in the public sphere towards the end of the 1960s. She was the designer of so-called "Türban", instead of the traditional "Başörtüsü" that was common in Anatolia for centuries, which she had learned from an Armenian tailor.
