Grisham joined the Trump campaign as a press aide in 2016 and moved to the White House afterward, serving as Melania Trump's press secretary from 2017 to 2019. In July 2019 she became the 32nd White House press secretary and communications director, succeeding Sarah Huckabee Sanders - but she held no press conferences during her tenure, choosing instead to appear on conservative outlets. She shifted in April 2020 to chief of staff for the first lady. On January 6, 2021, in the hours after the Capitol was stormed, she resigned. She has since broken with Trump and published a book in September 2021, I'll Take Your Questions Now, about her time inside the administration.
