American politician (1808-1864)
Solon Borland was an American politician, journalist, medical doctor and military officer. He served as a United States Senator from Arkansas from 1848 to 1853. Later in life, he served as an officer of the Confederate States Army, including as commander of a cavalry regiment in the Trans-Mississippi theater of the American Civil War.
