Simone Gold founded America's Frontline Doctors and drew national attention in July 2020 when a video of the group's press conference outside the Supreme Court went viral. She advocated for hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 treatment despite medical evidence showing it was ineffective and carried risks. On January 5, 2021, she spoke at a rally in Washington urging people to refuse vaccination. The next day she entered the Capitol during the attack, later speaking from the rotunda. She pleaded guilty to a federal misdemeanor and was sentenced to 60 days in prison and a $9,500 fine. On January 20, 2025, the first day of Donald Trump's second presidency, she received a pardon along with nearly all other Capitol riot participants.
