She owns 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals - more hardware than any gymnast who ever lived. The skills she invented are so hard no one else attempts them.

About this person

Simone Arianne Biles was born March 14, 1997, and by 2013 she was winning World all-around titles as a teenager. She swept through 2016 Rio with four golds, leading the "Final Five" to team victory, then racked up six more World all-around crowns between meets. At the Tokyo Games in 2020 she was supposed to dominate, but after qualifications she pulled out of most events - the twisties had stripped her air sense - and left with silver and bronze. She didn't disappear. She came back, won her eighth U.S. title in 2023 (breaking a 90-year record held by Alfred Jochim), then returned to Paris 2024 at 27 to anchor the "Golden Girls" to team gold and reclaim the all-around, becoming the oldest woman ever to win U.S. nationals that same year. President Biden gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2022; the Laureus World Sportswoman trophy has her name four times.
