Born May 9, 1983, Aoki earned black belts in judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu under mentor Yuki Nakai before turning pro in MMA in 2003. He racked up titles across weight classes and promotions - Shooto Welterweight Champion, DREAM Lightweight Champion, two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion, WAMMA Lightweight Champion - while sweeping Japan's submission grappling circuit with wins at the All Japan Jiu-Jitsu Championships, Japan Open, and ADCC Japan. In 2008 he co-founded Nippon Top Team alongside Masakazu Imanari and Satoru Kitaoka, a coalition of elite Japanese grapplers. He later crossed into professional wrestling with DDT Pro-Wrestling, where he currently holds the KO-D Tag Team Championship with Junta Miyawaki and continues competing in ONE Championship's welterweight division.
