Born March 10, 1977, Miller became world all-around champion in 1993 and defended it in 1994. At the 1992 Barcelona Games she took all-around silver and left as the meet's most decorated American athlete with five medals. Three years later she won Pan Am all-around gold. The 1996 Atlanta Olympics brought her story full circle: she claimed balance beam gold and helped carry the Magnificent Seven to the team title that had eluded American women for generations. When she stepped off the floor she held seven Olympic medals, a mark that stood alone for nearly three decades.
