About this person
Senusret I inherited the throne from his father Amenemhat I around the turn of the 20th century BC. He took the prenomen Kheperkare, meaning "the Ka of Re is created," and set about pushing Egypt's borders outward. The conquests worked: the kingdom grew, trade routes opened, and prosperity followed. He died around 1926 BC, leaving behind a dynasty at the height of its power.
