Ottoman prince, son of Suleiman the Magnificent and Hürrem Sultan
The youngest son of Suleiman the Magnificent, whose short life ended at twenty-two — a prince who never ruled but whose name still threads through the chronicles of the Ottoman court.
Born in 1531 to Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and Hürrem Sultan, Cihangir was the sixth and final child in a household where succession meant survival. He grew up in the shadow of older brothers vying for their father's throne, a world of silk and conspiracy. Whatever path he might have carved was cut short on 27 November 1553, when he died at twenty-two. The reasons and circumstances that ended his life remain in the historical record, but the fact remains: he was a prince who never wore the crown.
