Daimyo
Sakai Tadatsugu was a military commander who served Tokugawa Ieyasu in the late Sengoku period as the highest-ranking general in the Tokugawa clan along with Ishikawa Kazumasa. Tadatsugu is also regarded as one of the Four Guardians of the Tokugawa (Tokugawa-Shitennō), along with Honda Tadakatsu, Ii Naomasa, and Sakakibara Yasumasa. He is also included as one of the Tokugawa 16 divine generals. His official title was Sakai Saemon-no-jo Tadatsugu.
