Biography

About

Timothy came from Lystra or Derbe in Asia Minor, born to a Greek father and a Jewish mother who had converted to Christianity. Paul met him during his second missionary journey, and Timothy joined him and Silas as a companion and missionary partner. He traveled extensively with Paul, who mentored him through the expansion of early Christianity. Paul later addressed two epistles directly to Timothy — the First and Second Epistles to Timothy — which became part of the New Testament canon. Timothy went on to serve as the first Catholic bishop of Ephesus. According to the Acts of Timothy, he died…
