German general
Rudolf Kaempfe was a German career military officer who served in both world wars. As a general during World War II, he held commands at the division and corps level. He was arrested by the Gestapo in connection with the July 20 plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. At the end of the war, he was captured by the Red Army and held in captivity until 1949.
