Robert Bosch

Robert Bosch was born on 23 September 1861 in Germany, trained as an engineer, and founded the company that still bears his name. He made his mark as an inventor, refining electrical components and automotive technology at a time when the internal combustion engine was still finding its legs. The workshop he opened grew into an industrial giant, its reach eventually spanning continents and product categories far beyond what he first imagined. He died on 12 March 1942, having turned a mechanic's precision into a manufacturing standard.
