Second son of King Edward IV of England, younger of the princes in the Tower
The younger of the two princes locked in the Tower of London in 1483, never seen again after their uncle took the throne.
Richard of Shrewsbury was born 17 August 1473, second son of King Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. When his father died in 1483 and his older brother became King Edward V, their uncle Richard III assumed the throne that same year. Both boys disappeared in July 1483, shortly after Richard III's accession. What happened to them remains one of English history's coldest mysteries.
