He was one of the Deputy Speakers of the National Assembly of Hungary from 27 May 2002 to 13 May 2010. He was a member of the National Assembly of Hungary from 18 June 1998 to 8 May 2026. He was leader of the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) parliamentary group between 2010 and 2020.
