Swedish politician, Prime Minister of Sweden between 1932–1936 and 1936–1946 (1885–1946)
Per Albin Hansson was a Swedish statesman who served twice as Prime Minister of Sweden from 1932 until his death in 1946. He was leader of the Swedish Social Democratic Party (SAP) from 1925 and a member of the Riksdag’s lower house for Stockholm from 1918 to 1946. He introduced the concept of Folkhemmet in 1928, a political vision that defined the Swedish welfare state. Widely considered one of the fathers of modern Sweden, Hansson led the country through the Great Depression and the Second World War.
