Irish Jacobite peer (1655-1693)
Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan was an Irish army officer. Fatally wounded at the Battle of Landen on 29 July 1693 while serving in the French Royal Army, he died of his injuries several weeks later, and is now best remembered as an Irish patriot and military hero.
