Palle Rama Rao is an Indian scientist known for his contribution to the field of Physical and Mechanical Metallurgy. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, in 2011 by the President of India for his contributions to scientific community. He has collaborated and conducted research activities for over dozen universities and associations all over India and abroad and is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He is the acting chairman of the Governing Council, International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy & New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad.
