Thomas Overton Brooks was a Democratic U.S. representative from the Shreveport-based fourth congressional district of northwestern Louisiana, serving for nearly a quarter century, beginning on January 3, 1937 until his death in office on September 16, 1961. Originally a supporter of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal, he became part of the conservative wing of the Democratic Party.
