About this person

Born 19 October 1973, Buruk spent nearly two decades in midfield for Galatasaray, Inter Milan, Beşiktaş, and İstanbul Başakşehir. The peak came in 2000: he helped Galatasaray become the first Turkish side to win the UEFA Cup, then earned Man of the Match when they beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the Super Cup. He collected 56 caps for Turkey, playing at Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup, where the national team took bronze. After hanging up his boots he moved to the sideline and in 2019-20 guided Başakşehir to their first-ever league title - only the second manager to break the Big Four's stranglehold. Galatasaray hired him in 2022 and he's delivered four straight championships through 2025-26, deploying high-tempo pressing and a knack for getting the most from his squad. The silverware keeps piling up.
