Odilo Globočnik led Operation Reinhard, the organized murder of around one and a half million Jews in the Majdanek, Treblinka, Sobibór and Bełżec extermination camps. A high-ranking SS official, he was called by one historian "the vilest individual in the vilest organization ever known".

Odilo Lothar Ludwig Globočnik was born 21 April 1904 and became a Nazi Party official and member of the SS. During the Holocaust, he directed the systematic killing of mostly Polish Jews across four extermination camps. His command of this machinery of mass death marked him as among the most culpable architects of genocide. On 31 May 1945, shortly after British soldiers captured and detained him, Globočnik killed himself.
