Norbert Vollertsen is a German doctor and human rights activist. He is best known for his travels to North Korea in the late 1990s and early 2000s. During these travels, he documented the ongoing famine by secretly photographing starving Korean children. In 2013, Vollertsen was condemned to three years in prison by a German court after being charged with child sexual abuse.
