Companion (Sahabi) of Muhammad
He was the first ambassador of Islam, sent ahead of Muhammad himself to carry the new faith beyond Mecca — a companion trusted to speak for a movement when it was still small and dangerous.
From the Banu 'Abd al-Dar branch of the Quraysh, Mus'ab ibn 'Umair embraced Islam in 614 CE, when doing so meant breaking with Mecca's old order. His nickname was "al-Khayr" — the Good. Muhammad chose him as the first ambassador of Islam, the man who would represent the message in territories the Prophet had not yet reached. Eleven years after his conversion, Mus'ab fell at the Battle of Uhud in 625 CE. He died carrying the faith he'd been first to deliver.
