Abu 'Abd al-Rahman Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Sulami al-Shafi'i, commonly known as al-Sulami (947-1034), was a Shafi'i muhaddith, muffassir, shaykh of the Awliya, Sufi hagiographer, and a prolific writer. Al-Dhahabi said of him: "He was of very high status."
