Summary
Updated 2026-06-24

Mohammed Odeh was a Palestinian Hamas militant who briefly served as the Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip and as the leader and commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades in May 2026. He held both positions following the assassination of his predecessor, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, up until his own assassination that same month. He was a member of the Military Council of the al-Qassam Brigades. Odeh long served as the al-Qassam Brigades' head of intelligence, and he reportedly took over as the group's operations and weaponry manufacturing head following Ra'ad Sa'ad's assassination in December 2025. He was possibly the last member of the Brigades' higher leadership council, according to sources close to Hamas.
