Italian businessman (1948–1995)
He inherited an empire and lost it, then lost his life—shot outside his Milan office by a hitman his ex-wife hired.
Maurizio Gucci was born 26 September 1948, son of actor Rodolfo Gucci and grandson of Guccio Gucci, who founded the fashion house. He rose to head the company, steering the family business through years of internal struggle and eventual sale. On 27 March 1995, he was killed on the steps of his office by a contract killer—ordered, it later emerged, by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. The murder became one of Italy's most sensational crimes, the final turn in a story of dynasty, betrayal, and unraveling.
