About this person

Mark Rober joined NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory after college and worked nine years as an engineer, seven of them on the Curiosity rover that would eventually land on Mars. He left for Apple's Special Projects Group in the early 2010s, spending four years as a product designer and filing patents on virtual reality systems for self-driving cars. Somewhere in that stretch he started a YouTube channel, and by the time he walked away from Apple the videos - elaborate gadgets, science demos, and increasingly complex revenge plots against package thieves - had found an audience that now numbers in the twenties of millions. He teaches physics by breaking it, and the classroom is a driveway.
